Official Announcement: The Opening of the Willowdark Academy

On this day, the 1st of May, 608 E.R. I am proud to announce the opening of the Willowdark Academy.

The Willowdark Academy campus is located approximately ten miles west of Wayside Lodge, at the crossroads between the roads between Wayside Lodge and Hangman's Pass, and Blackbeach and Elmrisen. It can be reached easily by road and is open to enrollment from all subjects of Willowdark and from visitors from other lands that come in the spirit of friendship and peace.

The Willowdark Academy shall function as a center of learning, in academia, magic, and trade skills. The library of the Willowdark Academy contains many volumes on many subjects, including works copied from the University of Logopolis in the Republic of Galerus, as well as the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts and Sciences in Evendarr, and the renowned Quentari center of learning in Helevorn. A library of formal magic scrolls is being compiled for use by the Guilds of Willowdark, and members of those guilds can seek training in crafting skills. It also has expansive classrooms, laboratories, workshops and practice halls and fields. We shall teach not only scholars and mages, but smiths, tanners and carpenters in this Academy. The Militia of Willowdark may also use the Willowdark Academy for the training of Officers and enrichment of its members.

For years, transforming Willowdark from a frontier land into a civilized realm blessed with economic prosperity and enlightened education has been my highest priority, and this Academy is the centerpiece of that effort. In it's role as the center of economic development of Willowdark, the Academy shall begin to charter and support business endeavors to promote commerce and trade in Willowdark.

To celebrate this event, I am donating copies of my personal cartographic library to the libraries of the Academy. This means that as soon as the copies can be made available, copies of all my maps of the breadth of Tyrra will be available to the public of Willowdark.

Lord Guildmaster Cirin Icerider
Council of Willowdark
Lord Master of Guilds of All Willowdark
Master Wizard of Life and Reason
Master Cartographer

OOG: Means that the estate package will now be in play and PC's can buy and develop estates in Willowdark. Also, some additional benefits may be added to the Guild system.

I would like to be the first to purchase an estate. I do of course have the funds, just don't ask where they came from. I would also like to visit this Academy. Your maps could prove useful to some of my future plans here in Willowdark. I am sorry to hear about your precious box Cirin, but it will be easier for you to run away from me in terror now.

See you all soon,
Lycor

It matters little what my bounty is when there are none among you who can kill me! I have proven that on many occasions.

I wish to extend to Lycor a sincere apology for the failed joke. My intent was only amusement. I certainly had no intention of poisoning you. In reparation I have prepared a gift for you from the gypsy Clan of the Raven. Hopefully I can present this to you at the Wayside Lodge in the near future.

Love,
Zara

Gifts are always nice, thank you. Last night I wished for the death of a noble. Could it be you have granted this wish Zara? I guess I will have to wait and see. I will also be auctioning off an enchanted sword that can only be wielded by someone on a path other than my own. So start the bidding at 200 gold pieces!

Willowdark has the best villains ever. None of the other lands' villains ever auction off cool stuff.

Swords aren't my, um, thing, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

The item is useless to me. I acquired it from a gentlemen that would no longer need it. So profit seems prudent. It is not like I fear being harmed by townsfolk with a sword anyway, we have all seen the lack of cohesive fighting units and I can take on anyone in a one-to-one fight!

Well what does it do. the magic effect might be "Can't be wield by Lycor" for all we know. 200 gold isn't a kings ransom but it is a small fortune. Can you not identify the sword?

The sword is a longsword enchanted to strike three dagger blows harder than a normal sword. It also contains an Imprison and of course the afore mentioned limitation. I will leave that up to the imagination. The sword also kills vampires in a 10 foot radius. Of course I kill people in a much larger radius. Who should I start with?

I wish I could attend this upcoming gather, but alas my duties restrict me. I could easily pay you for such a miraculous sword. I would not guess this sword can function its purpose outside your lands, but it would be nice for my collection.

Lycor,

If you come across any magic short swords, keep us in mind. I know someone who'd love one. It always seems harder to find the magic short swords than the long swords.

Any bids yet?

And to get a bit of further detail. Is the item rendered? When do the magics expire? And will you accept bits of string in trade?

Of course the item is immune to shatter and destroy spells! It should last for about two years and I am always open to barter. Bits of string have little value to me, but bits of adventurers and nobles will be considered.
